Dissecting the molecular mechanisms used by developmental regulators is es-sential to understand tissue specification/ differentiation. SCL/TAL-1 is a basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor absolutely critical for hematopoietic stem/progeni-tor cell specification and lineage matura-tion.
