Agents that elevated intracellular cyclic adenosine 3’, 5’-monophosphate (cAMP) caused a 3- to 10-fold in-crease in the luteinizing hormone (LII) receptor level and in progesterone biosynthesis in primary cultures of pig ovarian granulosa cells. Associated with these effects was a 2- to 4-fold increase in the total activity of the catalytic subunit of cAMP-dependent protein kinase in the tissue.
