Alternaria leaf blight of tomato can cause a yield loss to the tune of 78 per cent under severe condition (Singh, 1998) Susceptibility and resistance to Alternaria leaf blight of tomato very much infl uenced by nutritional status of plants (Bedi and Dhiman, 1983) and time of transplanting (Datar and Mayee, 1981). Keeping these facts in view an experiment was chalked out with the objective to see the effect of transplanting dates and nitrogen levels on early blight disease and yield of Tomato cv. Punjab Chhuhara under cold arid c~nditions. The experiment was conducted at Regional Agricultural Research Sub-Station, SKUAST-K, Kargil during two successive cropping seasons of 2005 and 2006. The seedlings taken from one month old nursery wer
