prevalence of hepatitis A, B, C, and E viruses in residents in an Egyptian village in the Nile Delta: a pilot study,1 the au-thors claim that this is the first report of age-specific data on hepatitis E virus (HEV) in Egypt. We beg to differ. We pub-lished a report last year2 on the epidemiology of HEV in a truly rural village in the north central Nile Delta. The entire village population, less non-responsive individuals, participat-ed in our study, a size almost ten times greater than that re-ported by Darwish and others.1 Accordingly, we showed age and sex-specific seroprevalence of HEV by five year age groups. These are the most detailed sex/age-specific seroprev-alence data on HEV of which we are aware for Egypt, or anywhere else, and show much greater detail of HEV sero-prevalence for the very young and older age groups.
