Three-dimensional displays may be a more effective way of presenting spatial information to operators than conventional two-dimensional displays because all three dimensions of space may be represented in a spatial format. Of several three-dimensional computer graphics systems that are currently available, perspective displays may be the most viable option for implementation at the present time. Previous research shows that perspective displays support better performance than plan-view displays on navigation, spatial awareness, and integration tasks.
