I would like to thank Brian Butler for spending time with my book and taking the trouble to review it for Film-Philosophy. I was pleased to see that many of its main ideas, such as the juxtaposition of noir and race, came through in his review, and that some of the case studies, as he correctly describes them, seemed worth discussing at length. I also found Butler’s link between my book and the U.S.’s 2008 Presidential campaign intriguing. That insight shows a breadth of application I did not anticipate but happily embrace.
