After a long period of nationalisation, France start-ed to privatise state-owned firms in 1986. We will first show why and how such a dramatic change happened, then we will concentrate on the impact of privatisation policies based on the cases provid-ed by major firms. The next section reviews the pri-vatisation status of major state-controlled enter-prises. Then we study the performance of priva-tised firms and summarise our findings with some conclusions.
