The type of motivation that drives an athlete’s performance may have long-term impacts on their overall enjoyment and satisfaction of their sport. The purpose of this study was to interview former collegiate athletes representing three different generations in order to acquire information on how participating in college sports has affected their desires to participate in their sport over the course of their lives. Participants in the study included represented three different generations, chosen based upon their age and participation in college sports.
