USING PARENTS IN BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT

Parents can make strong allies in a home-based behavioral management program if procedures are properly explained and demonstrated. &dquo;That kid is driving me up the wall!&dquo; &dquo;Why do I always get stuck with behavior problems?&dquo; &dquo;Why can’t I get the parents to help?&dquo; Sound familiar? Perhaps- but it reassuring to find that teachers of the learning disabled across the country are finding that parents can and want to be allies in developing behavioral con-trols with their youngsters. We have often been asked to help parents find solutions to the problems their children exhibit. These parents want to be involved.
