It is essential to minimize the amount of Pt loading on cathode and to increase the life/durability of the Pt catalyst, without the loss of initial activity inorder to reduce the cost of polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells and for their successful commercialization. In our effort to overcome these problems, we have used a pinch of RuO2 nanosheet (RuO2ns) to functionalize conventional carbon supported Pt catalysts, which showed both increase in the initial activity as well as an improvement in the durability of the catalyst.
