As a result, the tem-perature of the laser diode will have a significant influence on the optical performance of the laser, as well as on its reliability. Therefore, a thermoelectric cooler is used to keep the temperature of the thermal carrier in the pump laser at a fixed temperature, in general 298 K. However, the thermoelectric cooler might not be able to respond rapidly enough to the temperature changes due to the power modulation in the pump laser.
