Full list of author information is available at the end of the articleBackground Vestibular Schwannoma (VS) is a benign tumor that originates from the vestibular portion of the eighth cranial nerve. The incidence is 1 in 100,000. The patients due to the mass effect may note symptoms like disequilibrium, vertigo, tinnitus and headache. However, most patients complain from progressive unilateral hearing decline. Earlier detection with widespread use of MR imaging prompts the patient and the clinician to treatment, when the patient still has useful hearing.
