Due to the chronicity of dermatitis herpetiformis and its frequent onset from age 20 to 40 years, therapy with dapsone may coincide with pregnan-cy and lactation. We describe an infant who had signifi-cant serum concentrations of dapsone and its primary metabolite, monoacetyldapsone, after ingesting breast milk containing dapsone. Both the mother and infant had compensated hemolytic anemia.
