The reservoir for Neisseria meningitidis (Nm) is the human oropharynx. Implementation of Nm serogroup C (NmC) glycoconjugate vaccines directly reduced NmC carriage. Prophy-lactic vaccines are now available to prevent disease caused by the five major Nm disease causing serogroups (ABCWY).
