Sequence analysis showed a large extrachromosomal plasmid, which encoded pir toxin genes and shared highly sequence simi-larity with the one observed in AHPND-causing Vibrio parahaemolyticus strains. The results suggest that this plasmid appears to play an important role in shrimp AHPND
