Advanced TraÆc Management Systems (ATMS) and Advanced Traveler Information Systems (ATIS) are promising technologies for achieving eÆciency in the operation of transportation systems. This paper presents a simulation based laboratory environ-ment, MITSIMLab, designed for testing and evaluation of dynamic traÆc management systems. The core of MITSIMLab is a microscopic traÆc simulator (MITSIM) and a traÆc management simulator (TMS). MITSIM represents traÆc ows in the network, while TMS represents the traÆc management system under evaluation. An impor-tant feature of MITSIMLab is its ability to model ATMS/ATIS which generate traÆc controls and route guidance based on predicted traÆc conditions.
