R factor = 0.031; wR factor = 0.085; data-to-parameter ratio = 12.7. In the title compound, [Cu(C11H9N6)2(H2O)2]n, the Cu II atom lies on an inversion center and is coordinated by four N atoms from four 5-[4-(1H-imidazol-1-ylmethyl)phenyl]tetrazolate ligands and two water molecules in a distorted octahedral geometry. The ligands bridge the CuII atoms, leading to the formation of a two-dimensional network parallel to (100). The structure is further stabilized by O—H N hydrogen bonds within the network.
