The incidence of CI-AKI is low 1–2 % in patients with normal renal function even with underlying diabetes mellitus [1] but increases up to 25 % in patients with certified risk factors, for instance the combination of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and diabetes, congestive heart failure, advanced age, and concurrent use of nephrotoxic drugs [4] with raising the morbidity and mortality [5].
