Metallo-β-lactamases (MBLs) that hydrolyze all β-lactams including carbapenems are found with increasing frequency among the Enterobacteriaceae and non-Enterobacteriaceae from human, animals and the environment [3,4], limiting the effectiveness of antimicro-bial therapy.
