The most important prognostic factor for NSCLC is tumor stage, with advanced stage disease being associated with the poorest prognosis. Sev-eral studies have shown the relationship of pretreatment stages of various malignancies and many experimental and clinical studies have been performed to explain this phenomenon. However, the mechanism of thrombocytosis in patients with cancer is not yet fully understood.
