Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a chronic and progressive neu-rodegenerative condition characterized by a progressive depletion of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta [1]. It affects approximately 7 million, pri-marily elderly, people worldwide [2].
