According to the position statement of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) and the American Diabetes tor agonists, such as liraglutide and exenatide, are recom-mended because of their ability to maintain good glycemic control in diabetic patients without resulting in weight gain or significant hypoglycemia [1,2]. They have also been shown to help maintain β-cell mass and function [3]. GLP-1 receptor agonist therapy has not yet been widely used in Japan [4]; however, it has recently begun to attract more attention [5,6]
