Infection is commonly acquired by consumption of raw or undercooked meat particularly pork and lamb containing cysts with bradyzoites, as well as fruits and vegetables contaminated with oocysts. Also, the infection can pass into the newborn by congenital transmission from preg-nant primo-infected women. People can get it from blood transfusion, organ transplantation, and it can also pass to butchers or personnel that handle products infected with the parasite and accidental exposure with contaminated blood [1,2].
