Abstract. In this note we give a rigorous definition of quasinormal modes for Kerr– AdS black holes. More precisely, we show that the resolvent of the stationary Klein– Gordon operator for a Kerr–AdS metric forms a meromorphic family of operators. Consequently, the poles are of finite rank and form a discrete subset of the complex plane. 1
