This paper presents an impedance-source power converter (abbreviated as Z-source inverter) (ZSI). Z-source have recently been examined and investigated as alternative for traditional inverters. The Z-source converter uses LC impedance network to couple the main converter circuit to the power source, which provides the boosting of input voltage that is not possible in traditional voltage-source (or voltage-fed) inverter (VSI) and current-source (or current-fed) inverter (CSI).
