WORK-LIFE BALANCE: FOCUS ON WOMEN AT MIDDLE MANAGEMENT

Indian women have started spreading their wings in various sectors and their roles are changing from a homemaker to a working professional. IT sector is a field where number of women employees has increased significantly in last few decades. But still the traditional role of women has not gone out of the mind of people and hence working women have to struggle and juggle between their multiple roles everyday. Especially at middle management level, women have to struggle more at work as here they deal with lower management as well as top management which needs them to be more energetic, efficient and effective. The current study is based on an empirical research on 113 working professionals of IT sector at middle management level in Bangalore city. In this study it was found that various demographic variables (age, marital status, kids and educational qualification) significantly affect the various components of work-life balance (social needs, personal needs, time management, team work, compensation and benefits and work). Also, the results reveal that the work life balance of women IT employees is more affected by their personal factors than their professional factors
