SOCIOECONOMIC STATUS OF TRIBAL DAIRY ANIMAL OWNERS OF SOUTH GUJARAT REGION OF INDIA

collect the information on socioeconomic status of tribal dairy animal owners of south Gujarat region of India. Out of 95 villages in the Vansada taluka, twenty villages having functional primary milk producer's co-operative societies were selected at random. From each village ten dairy animal owners were randomly selected for filling the questionnaire related to the study. The analysis revealed that 69.00 % of the respondents were educated up to primary or above, 70.00 % were having big nuclear family, 99.00%were having social participation and 71.50 % were marginal farmer. Majority respondents follow mixed farming system in which agriculture + dairying is main source of income (98.50%), having small herd size of less than 5 animals (71.50%), more than 85.00 % were having bicycle and clocks as house hold items, whereas 42.00 % respondents having only crossbred animals, and 31.50 % having oil engine or electric motor as farm machineries
