Image denoising is an area of active research. Many image de-noising techniques have been proposed in literature both in spa-tial and transform domain. Image denoising always strikes a bal-ance between noise removal and preserving edge information. An improved two-step approach using stationary wavelet transform is proposed in this paper. The first-step uses neighshrinksure followed by the nonlocal means method for denoising. The simulation results on synthetic and real images demonstrates the improvement of the proposed method.
