The objective of this study was to examine consequences of somatic cell nuclear transfer after fusion of somatic cell with maternal (autologous) or non-autologous ooplasts. To this end, granulosa cells from Jersey cows were fused with enucleated oocytes from the same Jersey cows (autologous ooplasts) or from Holstein, Hereford, and Angus cows (non-autologous ooplasts). The ability of cloned embryos to cleave and develop to morula or blastocyst was assessed on days 4 and 7 post-activation, respectively.
