1 Network-Centric Operations, Vulnerabilities to Cyber Attacks

Information systems have been used in all parts of our world and with the help of information systems, the decision makers can take more reliable and less risky decisions based on these systems. Information systems are based on more computer-oriented system. Using information, sensor and weapon technology makes a new concept just as Network Centric operation. It provides more situational awareness, interoperability and survival for the decision makers and military personnel. The adversaries are seeking solutions to vulnerabilities of Network-Centric systems for inhibiting friendly forces communication and data transmission. One of the threats of Network-Centric systems is a cyber-attack which makes situation more vulnerable. In this article, the operation of information systems was evaluated after cyber-attacks for decision-makers; it was dealt with scenarios. In scenarios, Network Centric operations were evaluated by Integrity, Confidentiality and Availability against cyber-attacks. According to the results of the system, it was directly related to how much knowledge military staff informed about cyber attacks. It affected Network Centric system regarding to which techniques was used by attackers. When Cyber attacks were determined, vulnerability and susceptibility would be reduced in the case of adaption to the condition in the shortest time. 1
