The market for synthetic cannabinoids has grown since 2008 beginning when the “spice herbal mixture” was introduced. Although the original “spice ” com-pounds have been outlawed in many countries, renegade chemists have produced new cannabimimetic compounds that are not illegal. Teledyne Isco Combi-Flash ® systems and RediSep Rf Gold ® columns are used to purify these new compounds for structural character-ization in a forensic setting1. The entire class of cannabimimetic compounds has been made illegal in the United States2, which requires the generation of reference compounds for all canna-bimimetic compounds. CombiFlash ® systems with RediSep Rf Gold ® columns also work well for this purpose
