The survey of the scope and quality of the flight information service (FIS) provided by the European States has been conducted in the context of the airspace infringement causal factor analysis. It is considered an essential step in the identification of effective solutions to the airspace infringement risk. The approach to the study included collection and analysis of information made available through reviews of the relevant ICAO provisions, national service provision requirements and procedures detailed in the State aeronautical information publications and site visits to flight information and air traffic control centres in five European States.
