Identification of the ant-loving crickets, Myrmecophilus Berthold, 1827 (Orthoptera: Myrmecophilidae), in Central Europe and the northern Mediterranean Basin

The identification of Myrmecophilus species from Central Europe and the north-ern Mediterranean Basin is discussed and an identification key is presented. New criteria for their identification based on the shape and density of the hairs on the body surface, the shape of the female subgenital plate, the body colouration and the number and positions of the spines on the hind leg metatarsi are provided.
