MECHANISM OF ACTION: Lomustine is a highly lipid-soluble nitrosurea compound.4 Unlike carmustine, it is administered orally. Lomustine, a monofunctional alkylating agent, alkylates DNA and RNA, can cross-link DNA, and inhibits several enzymes by carbamoylation.5,6 It is cell cycle phase-nonspecific.
