Central Avian Research Institute PREFACE

The Central Avian Research Institute, Izatnagar has played a pivotal role as a technology leader in metamorphosis of Indian poultry sector (IPS) from the yesteryears ’ subsistence backyard systems into vibrant agro-industry worth Rs 400 billion. Growing annually at about 6 % in egg and 10 % in broiler production, contributing nearly 0.7 % to the national GDP, the IPS is bustling with commercial activities, high employability and income generation potential. The contributions of the institute in developing superior genetic stocks of diversified poultry species, packages of management practices, processes and technologies to improve productivity and reduce cost along with product quality assurance have been widely acclaimed by the industry. The institute has also been supporting HRD and capacity building in tune with the growing demands of IPS for trained manpower.
