A. It is important that students and parents/guardians become acquainted with the rules and regulations associated with the privilege of riding a school bus. The district will make every effort to provide a safe and comfortable ride. To do so, those riding District busses are expected to cooperate with the bus driver and to minimize any activity that, in the driver’s opinion, is distracting or takes away from the driver’s attention to the road. POLICY PROCEDURE A. General bus rules. 1. The driver’s primary responsibility is to safely operate the bus. Students need to respect this responsibility by refraining from any activity which would cause a distraction to the driver. 2. Students need to be prompt and prepared to appropriately and safely board and ride his/her assigned bus. (Students will sit with hands and arms inside the bus and facing forward.) 3. Students need to be courteous and respectful in both words and actions while on the bus or at a stop (Body Basics)
