Pupil of van Gouwen and de Lairesse; painter and engraver of religious pieces as well as portraits, some in pastel. He is recorded in Amsterdam and Warmond in 1732, and in Leiden from 1741 on. He is best known for a series of 34 plates after his own drawings for Albinus’s anatomical treatise Tabulæ sceleti et musculorum corporis humani (Leiden, 1747). A number of these anatomical drawings are preserved in the Universiteitsbibliothek in Leiden; they are executed in mixed merdia, sometimes including pastel
