ABSTRACT: The energetic carbon ion beams originated from plasma column produced in Mather-type dense plasma focus (2.3kJ) is used for carburizing titanium substrate at room temperature, by increasing the carbon ion dose exposure. The titanium (Ti) samples are exposed at fix axial and angular position from the hollow copper anode tip. Surface properties of treated samples as a function of ion dose are studied for crystallinity, surface morphology and Micro-hardness using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, atomic force microscope and Microhardness tester.
