Abstract — This paper presents a wavelet transform based technique for the detection of High impedance Faults in the distribution feeders. In this study electrical models for a high impedance fault on a power system networks are developed and simulated using Mi-power. The analysis of resulted current signals, using Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) is done proving better performance than conventional relays for the detection of high impedance fault
