The paper presents an approach to optimizing the train timetable on a railway network using a multilevel optimization method. The development of a rational timetable has been carried out in two stages: (1) the computation of transport offer and (2) the physical construction of a timetable. Maximizing the number of passengers transported in direct relations, minimizing operating costs and minimizing the number of rolling stock required to operate the system is adopted at the first stage as an evaluation subcriteria.
