use of information concerning students in order to effectively address their total educational, psychological, social, emotional and physical development. While recognizing this need, it is also necessary to protect the rights to privacy and confidentiality of the student and the student’s parents/guardians. Consequently, the Benton Area School District will collect, maintain and disclose information on individuals receiving services of the Benton Area School District for the following purposes only: 1. To verify or facilitate an individual’s placement or eligibility for placement. 2. To provide necessary information for making appropriate educational decisions. 3. To interpret educational information for professional staff. 4. To communicate educational information to the student (when appropriate), parents or legal guardians. 5. To enable teachers, guidance counselors and other professional staff directly concerned with the student to analyze student progress. 6. To enable teachers and other professional staff to counsel with parents/guardians, professional persons and students about educational progress. 7. To provide a record of results of evaluations which, with written parent/guardian or eligible student permission, can be transmitted to authorized professional sources outside the school setting and to other educational institutions. 8. To provide any other records which may be required by law. 9. To facilitate the exchange of educational records within the justice system
