1 CHAPTER I PLANNING PROCESS Background

This plan is an update of the Davison County Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan, which was approved by FEMA in February 2011. The purpose of the plan is to prevent or reduce losses to people and property that may result from future hazard events in Davison County. The plan identifies and analyzes the hazards that the county is susceptible to, and proposes a mitigation strategy to minimize future damage that may be caused by those hazards. The document will serve as a strategic planning tool for use by Davison County in its efforts to mitigate against future disaster events. This is a multi-jurisdictional plan. All of the municipalities located within Davison County were invited to participate in the plan's development, as they had when the current plan (that is, the plan now being updated) was being developed. Following is the list of municipalities that chose to participate in the plan's development by having representatives attend the planning meetings, by providing input into the plan, and by passing a resolution supporting and adopting the plan 1
