The report reviews the currently known air quality data for the Borough and assesses whether the air quality is likely to meet specified air quality standards and objectives by a given date, dependent upon the pollutant. Only those pollutants identified in the Stage 1 Review and Assessment of Local Air Quality are reviewed and assessed, i.e. carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide and particulate matter (PM10). The Stage 1 Review and Assessment concluded that there are no significant non-traffic sources of the specified pollutants and that any potential exceedances were likely to occur in close proximity to heavily trafficked roads. The air quality objectives detailed in the amended air Quality Regulations have been used to assess air quality in Brentwood. This Stage 2 report concludes that it is likely that the national air quality objective for carbon monoxide will be met and a 3rd Stage review is not required. This Stage 2 report further concludes that a 3rd stage review and assessment should be undertaken for nitrogen dioxide and particulate matter as there is a possibility that the air quality objective may not be achieved by the appropriate date
