The Forest Genetic Conservation and Management Program is now in its twelfth year and continues to meet provincial strategic objectives related to select seed production, genetic gains, genetic conservation, and reporting. It is through the hard work and dedication of everyone involved that this program is successful, and this year is not an exception. The broad program continues to focus on structuring for a changing climate and for the implications this has on forest management. One of the primary means by which we can respond is the matching of seedlots (genotypes) with future climates to ensure forests are well adapted to the climate in which they grow. This will result in better health, greater productivity and ultimately a more secure forest-based economy. In response to this need, the Forest Genetics Council has set up a new Seed Transfer Technical Advisory Committee that is identifying priorities for climate-based seed transfer research, structuring a program for delivery of this research, and providing oversight over new climate-based seed transfer standards. This work is directly aligned with priorities in the Ministry of Forests and Range, and receives the support of the Forest Investment Council. This publication, in conjunction with the FGC Business Plan and FGC Annual Report, meets the reporting obligations of Council and the FIA Forest Genetic Conservation and Management Program. I
