To assess the status of infrastructure in the country, it is of utmost importance to have a reliable and up-to-date database on infrastructure. Although definition and concept of infrastructure has different meanings in different contexts, CSO has compiled statistical publication on economic infrastructure of the country i.e. infrastructure required to facilitate the economic development of the country. As recommended by Rangarajan Commission, a consolidated publication on infrastructure statistics “Infrastructure Statistics 2010 ” was prepared by CSO in 2010.
