Service oriented architecture (SOA) has drawn increased attention from both academic and industrial communities, and have put forth several standards and solutions. However, we found there is no universally accepted tool or procedure showing the importance of modeling a SOA-based software system based on the important system theory’s characteristics known as (i) flat or hierarchical composition, (ii) feed forward or feedback message flow, and (iii),sequential or parallel processing.
