In this book a modern approach to numerical simulation of supersonic and hypersonic flows around bodies is comprehensively presented. The main advantage of this approach, using the viscous gas dynamics equations throughout the computational domain, is the feasibility to take into account the important effects of rarefaction, viscous-inviscid interaction, separation, chemical and thermal non-equilibria and radiation. The book contains a number of calculation examples which demonstrate the application of the viscous shock layer models to a wide range of modern gas dynamic problems. This book is intended for researchers working in the field of supersonic and hypersonic gas dynamics and is suitable for those already familiar with the fundamenta...
