User perceptual sensitivity to changes of full system latency was tested in three simple virtual environments, two with ei-ther only a foreground or a background object and an additional one that combined both types. Earlier psychophysical measurements of sensitivity (just noticeable differences) and bias (points of subjective equality) are confirmed and con-trasted with other reports in which subjects may not have been sufficiently instructed as to what the visual consequences of latency were. A possible explanation of these dif-ferences could have been related to a visual capture effect reported initially by Matin.
