A Cellular Nonlinear Network (CNN) based on uncoupled nonlinear oscillators is proposed for image processing purposes. It is shown theoretically and numerically that the contrast of an image loaded at the nodes of the CNN is strongly enhanced, even if this one is initially weak. An image inversion can be also obtained without recon guration of the network whereas a gray levels extraction can be performed with an additional threshold ltering. Lastly, an electronic implementation of this CNN is presented
