State of the art and motivations Atomic physics aims to probe the fundamental nature of universe through high-precision exper-iment, and develop new technologies through exquisite control of atoms and molecules. Leading experiments can now measure towards incredible accuracies of ∼ 1 part in 1018. Higher-precision theory is required for predictive and supporting calculations. However, general atomic processes involve many constituent nuclei and electrons that interact in complicated ways under the laws of quantum mechanics. The theoretical description of such atomic many-body systems is non-trivial. Precision calculations require numerical approaches that push scientific computing to its limits. Ph.D. Project 2016-201
